Rescuing freezer-burned pork chops?

We have some pork chops that have been in the chest freezer way too long. I thawed one out recently and ate it -- it hadn't gone bad, but it was pretty freezer-burned and dried out. Does anybody have any suggestions for rescuing it with the slow cooker? I was thinking about maybe using some kind of strongly flavored marinade and plenty of it, but to be honest I don't really know what I'm doing.

My friends and I don't use the word stupid- we just say "You're so pretty!" Erm... I'm pretty a lot.

I've been able to rescue freezerburned meat by rinsing it off in warm water and then cooking it with a wet method (ie: crockpot) and either cooking it in or serving it with a strongly flavored sauce like marinara or barbeque. Just make sure there's a little fat in your cooking liquid and it should be fine and edible even if it's not company-worthy.

Oh good, I'm glad to hear that this has worked for you! Did you thaw it in the refrigerator first, or just with the warm water?

I have cooked a pork butt with a small jar of cherry preserves, and that is very yummy. Maybe something like that will work on this?

Hmm. Or maybe some kind of apple ... thing?

Cut 'em up and use 'em to make chile, maybe chile verde? (Disclaimer: I've never had chile verde with pork, as I can't eat pork, but it SOUNDS like a great way to disguise slightly dry but otherwise good meat. Isn't that why chile was invented anyway?)

Oh, yeah! Throw 'em in the crock with some salsa verde, cumin, onion powder, garlic, a couple chicken broth cubes and it should turn out very yummy--just cook all day on low :)

(I can dig out my exact recipe if you need me to, but I just guess and throw things in lately...)

Do you think this could rescue some freezer burned beef as well?

I've never tried it with beef. Is it hamburger, roast, or steak? If it's a roast, I'd be tempted to try the French Dip recipe someone posted a while back, but that may not have quite enough flavor if the meat is really dry. (And if you decide to try that recipe but can't find it, I'll dig around and find my copy.)

I'm OK with just throwing things in. :D Thanks!

(Mostly, I'm just really reassured that so many people are saying yes, it's usable.)

Well, I'm not a big fan of spicy foods, but throwing in lots of onion and garlic and stuff instead of making it spicy could work. Thanks!

You could just make pulled pork, I've done this with freezer burnt porkchops. Just put them in with a can of beef broth and later add your bbq sauce :)

Excellent!
