1.5 quart slow cooker recipes?

Hello all:

I was just gifted with a 1.5 quart slow cooker (oh happy day!), but I'm brand-new to this type of cookery and I'm having trouble finding recipes for that small a crock. A couple of different Google searches turned up virtually nothing. Does anyone know of any recipe archives for a little crock, or any tips on how to adapt recipes to fit? (I've noticed that most crock recipes don't say what size they're for, and I suck at estimating volume.)

Thank you! :)

I have a two quart. You can usually just scale down whatever is listed in a recipe. I usually make something with two chicken breasts... just salsa chicken. Throw in any onion, pepper, corn, and beans on the both. The chicken over the vegs and put taco seasoning and cover with salsa. Shred with two fours and eat in tortias with cheese and sour cream (goat cheese gives the meal a whole new flavour). The rest freezes well and I take as lunch to work in some tupperware.

I also make french onion soup in my 2 quart.

If you do an archive/calendar search for my user name between October 2009 and now, I've posted a handful of recipes that work in a 1.5 litre crock, including beef stroganoff and salmon risotto.

Look for a book called Slow Cooking for Yourself by Catherine Atkinson. It appears that Amazon has it. I was lucky enough to find it in the library. It has many recipes for small crocks.

There's also Not Your Mother's Slow Cooker Recipes for Two by Beth Hensperger especially for small crocks.

I just bought the same size slow cooker for my daughter for Christmas, and would also be thankful for such recipes or links to same!

when looking for recipes for the smaller crock, add the term "crockette" to your search. that should help.

A crock that size works beautifully for small-scaled dishes- recipes designed to serve 1-2 are ideal, but you don't have to limit yourself to recipes specifically written for that. It will comfortably fit a few chicken pieces (e.g. 2 breasts, or 4-5 thighs), a pound of stew meat, a lamb shank cut in 2 pieces, etc. + sufficient veg/sauce to make a nice stew. Or cut a soup recipe in half. Or make 4 servings of steel-cut oats. It's very versatile.

Most of the recipes I've made fill my 8 litre crock half full, if that helps you gauge at all.
